About Dave

I've tried throughout my career to help people improve their communication with others. I have a Ph.D. in organizational and interpersonal communication, and a Master's degree in interpersonal communication. I worked in Corporate training for almost 20 years, and Academia for over 15 years. I continue to do communication consulting as President of my company, Common Ground Connections.

I always start with helping clients to identify their current communication skills which work for them now. My philosophy is that no one has to "re-invent" their communication.

One approach I use is called creating common ground connections. It's based on client's use of two skills they already possess--establishing common ground and creating connections. The idea is to use these skills more deliberately and frequently than they do now. They continue to use their other communication skills which currently work for them in that effort.
